Thankyou for downloading this demo version of Vistapro. Vistapro is a three-dimensional landscape simulation program. Using real-world data from US Geological Surveys and from NASA spacecraft, you can accurately recreate and explore real-world landscapes in vivid detail.
I invite you to explore this demo. Hard-coded into this demo is a half-size
DEM (Digital Elevation Map) of the El Capitan area of Yosemite Valley. By opening
up the fractal window, you can choose 1 fractal mountain by entering 1 in the box
below RANDOM, and hitting return. Entering 0 will bring back El Cap. (The release
version has literally billions of fractal landscape possibilities.)
Nothing about the quality of rendering has been disabled in this program. Try adding
rivers, lakes, clouds and trees to the landscape. Change the direction of the light
source. Change the snow-line, and tree-line elevations. View the landscape from
all different angles.
The release version comes with a significant amout of DEMs, such as Mt. St. Helens
(Before and after the eruption), Half Dome, Crater Lake, the Matterhorn, Big Sur, etc.
There are also regional landscapes offered of the Grand Canyon, Sequoia national
forest, Mineral King, Valles Marinares on Mars, just to name a few. There are few
places in this world that we do not have elevation maps for, or can aquire.
The release version also allows you to use a scripting language for doing animations, and to edit the surface of the landscape to place terrain types exactly where you want. All of the import and export functions have been disabled for the demo. Vistapro generates Quicktime™ movies.
